Most organizations discover they have a Microsoft 365 storage problem in one of two ways. Procurement asks why a line item that did not exist two years ago is now material, and whether it will keep growing. Or a user cannot upload a file because the site they work in has gone read-only and nobody told them it would.
Artificial intelligence and tools like Microsoft Copilot didn’t quietly slip into the enterprise, it kicked the door open, grabbed a chair, and asked for admin access. AI adoption inside Microsoft 365 environments accelerated faster than most governance programs were prepared for.
This past May at the 2026 Microsoft 365 Community Conference in Orlando, I joined Jay Gundotra, Sander Berkouwer, and Sean Hurley for a session on Microsoft 365 governance in the age of Copilot.
